It seems to happen too often these days. The alarm clock is set to go off at 5am. You come awake, roll over, glance at the clock and see that it’s 4:14 in the morning.

It’s almost like living the Chicago song “25 or 6 to 4”, and just waiting in this case for the alarm to go off.

It’s too close to the time to get up to lay in bed waiting for the alarm to go off. And not enough time to fall back to sleep, since you know it’ll ring just as you are getting to that deep enjoyable sleep.

So what I usually do is to lay there and think about what I have to do once I get up and through the day.

Or sometimes it’s to think of things to write. Such as writing about what I’m thinking when I wake up at 4:14.

But usually I am wishing that the clock would say it’s 3:13. This for a couple of reasons. One because I have always considered 313 as a lucky number, but the real reason is that there’s still nearly 2 hours before 5am.
