The Brothers Go Bowling

By | Jan 30, 2013

This Sunday, February 3, 2013, Super Bowl XLVII will be played in New Orleans. For the first time in the history of the game two brothers (John and Jim Harbaugh) will facing off as the Head Coaches.

John Harbaugh is the Head Coach of the AFC Champs Baltimore Ravens. This game will be the conclusion of his fifth year of being the Head Coach in Baltimore as well as his fifth year as a Head Coach in the NFL. In each of his years with the Ravens he has taken them to the Playoffs, the first to do this. In three of these years he lead them to the AFC Championship. His post-season record is 8-4. Along with John Harbaugh is Quarterback Joe Flacco (the only Quarterback to take his team to the playoffs in their 1st five seasons) and the retiring Linebacker Ray Lewis.

Jim Harbaugh is in his second season as the Head Coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He was selected in first round of the 1987 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. He played 14 years as a quarterback and even was with the Baltimore Ravens for a season in 1998. Like his brother he has lead his team to the playoffs every year as an NFL Head Coach.

The two brothers have faced off once in the NFL regular season. That was in a Thanksgiving Day game on November 24, 2011. The Ravens won that game, which was played in Baltimore, by the score of 16-6. This was the first time two brothers had faced each other as NFL Head Coaches and no on really should be surprised that they are facing each other in the Super Bowl.

Both brothers feel that the game should focus on the players and not the Head Coaches.

Only Five Paragraphs since this will be updated after the game.
