Best Film of the Decade – 1970’s – 2000’s

By | Jan 24, 2013

For me this is the modern days of films. I turned 12 during 1970 and now films were not only new to me, but new to the critics. And many times what I felt was a good film was panned by the critics. Of course many times films and performances they may not have liked were the most popular to the fans.

The 1970s was a good decade for films, but there is one that stands out as a game changer. That would be the original Star Wars.

The 1980s saw many blockbuster science fiction and thriller films. One of those that stand out to me is Body Heat, which was also the film debut for Kathleen Turner.

Animated films and Walt Disney Pictures have been around for almost the entire time of film history and there has been many fine animated films. But Beauty and the Beast took it to another level.

I would say that the best film for the 2000’s is a collection of three that really makes for one long (nearly 9 hour) film. That would be Lord of the Rings. Even though Return of the King won the Oscar, the one I thought was the best was the first, Fellowship of the Rings. But it’s the three combined that really makes for the best of the decade.

And my thoughts of the best of the 2010’s so far. Even though we are only three years into the decade, there is really only one I would have in a limited collection. That would be the Bond film Skyfall.
