The Girl of Girls

By | Jan 14, 2013

Until yesterday I really haven’t heard of Lena Denham and the HBO series “Girls”, which she created and has stars. All I really knew was that it was up for a Golden Globe and that it has been called “Sex in the City” for current generation.

Then I saw her being interviewed on the Golden Globes Red Carpet. My thought was who is that ordinary looking young woman with tattoos. To me she sure wasn’t what one would call a Hollywood Beauty, although in her own way she is a very pretty girl.

Then I had the chance to find that her series “Girls” was on last night. In fact it was the debut of the show’s second season. Instead of watching the Golden Globes, I turned into it. And found a very entertaining and provocative series. One that I want to see now from the beginning.

A bit about Lena Denham. She was born on May 13, 1986 to painter Carroll Dunham and photographer Laurie Simmons in New York. New York is also where the series “Girls” take place.

“Girls” follow a bunch of young adults in their 20’s living in New York and trying to discover themselves.

As alluded to earlier, I find Len Denham refreshing. She’s not afraid to show herself. The couple of shows I have seen has shown a lot of nudity. But in a way that is quite natural.
