Musician Shelia E. is celebrating her 55 birthday. Sheila Escovedo is a percussionist, perhaps best known for her work with Prince, George Duke and Ringo Starr.

George Grant received U.S. patent No. 638,920 on this date in 1899 for the golf tee.

Pennsylvania becomes the second state to ratify the US Constitution. This was less than a week after their neighbor Delaware did so on December 7th. Up until May of 1776 Delaware had been part of the Pennsylvania colony.

In 2000 The United States Supreme Court releases its decision in Bush v. Gore. This stopped the recounting of votes in Florida with George Bush being declared the victor. With Florida’s electoral votes George Bush was named the victor of the 2000 election.

The Order of the Dragon was first created in 1408 by Emperor Sigismund, then King of Hungary, and his wife Queen Barbara of Celje following the battle for possession of Bosnia.
