Overused Words or Phrases

By | Sep 12, 2009

Each and every day we listen to words and phrases fly by us. I’m sure that you have heard many that as far as you are concerned they should be banned from speech. These are 6 of mine.

Some many people when they begin describing something begins by saying, “Basically it’s ….” Please leave the word out. It may be basic to you, but if I don’t know what it is or how to do it, it’s not basic to me.

I have a cohort who uses this all the time when we talk and whenever she agrees with what’s being said she utters the word exactly. The first time isn’t tto bad, but after the seventh or eighth, it begins to get on my nerves.

This has become an overused catch-phrase for just about anything and everything. Wouldn’t saying ‘Creative Thinking’ be the same. But then again if that was used all of the time it would be just as bothersome.

I agree that we need to be environmentally friendly and that even though there was the movement in the 60s and 70s to clean up the environment, we still have a long ways to go. But it seems as if everything is green and it’s starting to become just a marketing term.

Well it’s like ….

You Know
… you know. Well if I knew I probably wouldn’t be asking in the first place.
