The first time that a Toilet was shown on American TV was in the first episode of Leave it To Beaver. Although the actual toilet wasn’t shown. It was just the tank in which Wally and the Beav hid a baby alligator.

Some people think that the first married couple to appear together in the same bed was Fred and Wilma Flintstone. Everyone knows that Lucy and Ricky had twin beds as did The Petrie’s of the Dick Van Dyke Show. But the actual answer to this is Mary Kay and Johnny, a stitcom predating I Love Lucy which starred real-life couple Johnny and Mary Kay Stearns.

When Captain James Kirk, commander of the Starship Enterprise in the episode titled Plato’s Stepchildren, was forced to kiss his Communication’s Officer Uhura they were the first inter-racial couple to share a kiss.

Sheriff Andy Taylor first appeared on an episode of Danny Thomas’ show Make Room For Daddy. The spin-off, the Andy Griffith Show, was the first spin-off series.

The character Les Nessman on the show WKRP in Cincinnati wore a band-aid in each episode. It was developed as part of the character’s quirkyness.

On Gilligan’s Island, Gillian’s full name was never mentioned, The Skipper’s name was Jonas Grumby, The Professor’s Roy Hinkley and Mary Ann’s last name was Summers. Mrs. Howell name before she married Mr. Howell was Eunice Wentworth.
