Presumed Lost “Silent Films”

1) The Adventures of Tarzan (1921-1922)
A 15 part (each part being 2 reels) serial starring Elmo Lincoln as Tarzan and Louise Lorraine as Jane. Great Western Producing Company production for Weiss Brothers’ Numa Pictures Corporation. The serial was turned into a feature film and released in 1928, a copy of the feature exists, but the Serial is presumed lost.

2) Cleopatra (1917)
The filmed starred Theda Bara as Cleopatra in one of her greatest starring roles. The film was a Fox Film production and based upon the play by William Shakespeare.

3) The Escape (1914)
D.W. Griffith directed this movie based on the play The Escape by Paul Armstrong. One of it’s stars was Lillian Gish.

4) The Potters (1927)
W.C. Field starring vehicle based upon the novel The Potters by Joseph P. McEvoy.

5) Sherlock Holmes (1916)
Adapted from the play adaptation Sherlock Holmes by William Gillette of the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. William Gillette appeared in his first film as Sherlock Holmes.

6) Uncharted Seas (1921)
Directed by William Ruggles and with Rudolph Valentino in its cast.
