When starting a web log (blog).

By | Nov 26, 2006

1) Know who your audience may be. Do you want a private place to write your thoughts? Do you want your friends to read your thought? Is it a blog for information to be delivered to the masses? Knowing you audience may determine how and where you want to create the blog.

2) Have a purpose in mind. Many blogs are started as a diary for the users and all of a sudden all of their personal information is now online. If you plan for others to read it, you will know what you may or may not want to post.

3) Initial format may not be important. Blogs will grow as they please and the initial format may turn out to be just a starting point. But if you are using it to promote or inform, the initial format may be critical.

4) Have a plan to invite readers. An unread blog is simply a diary. Have a plan to invite friends, family and strangers to your blog

5) Read what you write. Before posting read to be certain you haven’t put something in the post that you didn’t want there. Also check for mistakes.

6) Don’t be afraid. Being afraid only prevents something from getting done. If you don’t start there is not a finish.
